BOUROULLEC - HAY

L'éditeur danois HAY a invité cette année les frères Bouroullec à dessiner une nouvelle gamme de mobilier pour l'Université de Copenhague. Très réussie, cette collection a rapidement rejoint la gamme "grand public" de Hay. Elle comprend une chaise, un tabouret de bar et différentes tables et bureaux, et est inspirée d’une chaise d’université vintage dessinée par l’architecte Bernt Pedersen. La gamme Copenhague met en avant un très beau (et inhabituel) piètement tréteau, élément récurrent chez Pedersen. Disponible en hêtre ou en chêne laqué dans différentes couleurs, la collection, à la fois sobre et singulière, est la parfaite synthèse entre l'esprit Bouroullec et le design nordique.

HAY has invited Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to design a new collection of furniture for the redesigned University of Copenhagen (KUA). The collection includes a wooden chair, a bar stool and several tables. The starting point for this series is an old university chair, architect Bernt Pedersen’s trestle chair. This chair is a simple and beautiful chair with an uncomplicated identity. In our interpretation we have upheld the original chair typology (trestle chair) and sought to maintain the compelling simplicity of the original chair. The seat and back are mounted in the centre of the seat creating a highly flexible and resilient comfort – the seat follows the movement of the user. The chair also has a flexible back, which bears similarity to the cantilever chairs, which was first designed by the Bauhaus school in Germany in the 1930’s.
