Imaginé par le talentueux Sebastian Herkner, designer allemand qui monte, qui monte, Unam est un fauteuil robuste édité par Very Wood, la gamme "scandinave" de Gervasoni (et oui, comme tout le monde, les italiens AUSSI se mettent au nordique...). Sous ses airs de gros fauteuils solide et confortable, il cache une construction savamment étudiée, rendant hommage à la fabrication des fauteuils anciens, avec notammeent le recourt au bois et le travail du cordage. Inspiré par le mobilier créé par Jean Jeanneret en Inde, Herkner en a repris les lignes nettes, le dessin précis, en les réinterprétant à sa manière. Mélangeant courbes graciles et ligne tendues, le design d'Unam est une vraie réussite, preuve une nouvelle fois que Herkner a sa place parmi les grands.

 

 

 

 

Unam is a comfortable lounge chair in solid wood designed by Sebastian Herkner. Inspired by the pragmatic projects by Jean Jeanneret in India, the designer has transferred these concepts into his own design language. The product features clean lines and authentic materials and it is based on traditional manual ability and aesthetics revisited with a contemporary spirit. The Unam chair is a place in which one can relax and forget about all external influences. 

 

 

 

 

The coupling of materials and proportions emanate a sense of protection and safety. The structure of the chair is made up of simple wooden elements that recall traditional wooden constructions. The two arched elements that serve as front legs and the arms say a lot about its design and character. This latter is available in two finishes, one woven and one covered. The combination between traditional elements such as the curve and the twine and their articulation into a modern design make Unam an interesting and extremely readable piece of furniture.
