Didier Gomez a accepté avec enthousiasme de relever le défi que lui a lancé Michel Roset pour sa collection 2013 : concevoir un salon contemporain international qui offre le meilleur confort jamais proposé par Ligne Roset ! De fait, Didier Gomez et Ligne Roset ont poussé pour Nils le plus loin possible la mise en œuvre simultanée de toutes les ressources techniques permettant d’optimiser le confort d’un canapé.
Le canapé Nils (son nom est un hommage à Nils Holgersson, le petit garçon créé en 1906 par la romancière Selma Lagerlöf, et qui sillonnait les cieux de la Suède à dos d’oie) est 100% parementé de duvet et plumettes d’oie : il présente ainsi un aspect visuel duveteux particulièrement accueillant. Si les volumes paraissent de simples parallélépipèdes (bloc dossier, blocs assise, blocs accoudoirs, en cas de besoin aisément démontables pour faciliter livraison, déménagement ou nettoyage), ceux-ci sont harmonieux et équilibrés avec une ligne générale surbaissée.
Leur simplicité est compensée par leur aspect moelleux et la sophistication des coutures utilisées : le mixage de coutures simples et de coutures bord à bord sur la structure confère à Nils un esprit « confection » teinté d’élégance décontractée, un peu comme le serait un jeans stonewash de grand marque. La surpiqûre double-aiguille des coussins de dos établit un contrepoint raffiné.

In actual fact, Didier Gomez and Ligne Roset have made the very best use of every possible technical resource which might enable the comfort of a settee to be optimized.
The Nils settee (its name is a homage to Nils Holgersson, the small boy created in 1906 by the novelist Selma Lagerlöf, who criss-crossed the skies of Sweden on the back of a goose) is 100 % clad – both structure and cushions – in goose feathers and down: because of this it has a particularly welcoming pillowy appearance.
If its contours seem to be simple parallelograms (back, seat platform, armrests, all of which may be easily disassembled to facilitate delivery, house removal or cleaning), they are nonetheless harmonious and balanced with generally low- lying lines. Their simplicity is counterbalanced by their soft appearance and the sophistication of the stitching used: the blend of simple and edge-to-edge stitching on the structure lends Nils a ‘made-to-measure’ feel coloured with laid-back elegance, a little like a pair of stonewashed jeans by one of the great fashion houses. The twin needle stitching on the back cushions adds a refined counterpoint. The armchair is not a simple extrapolation of the settees: it has its own special proportions which make it possible to go without a separate back cushion and which lend it both personality and visual lightness.
