L'éditeur italien Arflex a toujours su s'entourer de designers et architectes talentueux pour développer ses collections de mobilier et c'est ainsi que beaucoup de créations de la marque sont devenues des icônes du design contemporain. La collection Hug imaginée par les designers suédois Claesson Koivisto Rune, est une série de fauteuils à la ligne graphique, twistant à merveille 3 matériaux habituellement utilisés dans le mobilier : le métal laqué (piétement), le bois (éléments décoratifs reliant piétement et assise en noyer massif Canaletto, wengé ou chêne) et le tissu (coque assise dossier). Le nom "Hug" est un clin d'oeil à la forme particulièrement accueillante de ces sièges, qui semblent nous inviter à nous asseoir en nous tendant leurs bras-accoudoirs généreusement ouverts.

Arflex has had the foresight and daring, over the years, to work with many great and gifted architects and designers. Many of the iconic designs remain in their collection to this day. The new HUG armchair has a structure and a base in metal with details in solid wood in walnut Canaletto, wengé stained, oak. Swedish designers Claesson Koivisto Rune have designed the armchair with a high level of seating comfort coupled with the very best quality upholstery solutions. 

In fact, each and every part of the HUG armchair has been carefully designed to give great flexibility to the customer as well as being beautiful to look. On top of this, they have looked for a particular silhouette. A friendly, recognisable gesture that encompasses all of these aspects but also, speaks directly to the heart – the hug. The friendly and welcoming gesture, seen most clearly in the ‘open- armed’ position of the armrests, is meant as a universal invitation: “Come, sit with me a while and I’ll put you at ease”.
